Got One!

(Some of her plants)
Past: I was planning on getting Darby in on my project, and I was searching for a new plant.

Present: I got my friend Vivian instead of Darby in on it actually! Darby decided she was too busy, but Vivian had free time and likes plants, so she's gone on it with gusto! Also, I got a nice plant to replace the potatoes! I found it on the side of a neighbor's fence labeled, "Free"!

Future: I'll just keep on keeping on ! Maybe I'll find more plants, maybe get another person to join me?

RIP Potatoes ;W;

(Onions are healthy :D)
Past: I planted potatoes a little bit ago, and I was keeping the onions healthy.

Present: So some weeds popped up and I had to pull them up. I want to be totally organic, so no weed killers or pesticides will be used! Sadly, my potatoes haven't survived. Unfortunately I think I planted them too deep and inadvertently killed them. So that plot is dead to me for a bit until I can think of something else to plant there.

Future: I'll be looking for a new plant, and I've got my friend Darby interested! I'll see if I can get her to get started sometime soon

Second check in!

past: So I've been watering the onions still, and they're taking to the soil quite well! Stalks are nice and large ^-^

Present: I planted two potatoes! Due to some controversy online as to the correct way to plant and grow them, I planted one whole and cut the other in two before planting. Because the plot is quite nondescript, I've placed a marker over it so no confusion is had as to the potatoes' resting spot.

Future: I think I'll stick with this many plots for now, as I don't even know if these will grow. I'm going to keep an eye out for weeds now, as my plots are the only spots in the backyard without a tarp over the ground.

Project Begins! (sorta)

Past: During the past week I focused on preparing a piece of my backyard for planting. It was difficult because we had a tarp underneath our bark dust and once. Once was beneath that I had to remove the packed clay and replace it with usable soil so the plants would actually grow. I have two areas prepared, about two feet from one another.

Present: I have two large store bought onions with which I will begin my garden. I've made sure my family knows to not bother the plants while they chop down the trees lining our fence (long story). I'm worried that the soil I put in won't make up for the clay surrounding the plot and that it may result in my plants not being able to grow properly.

Future: I'm searching for a simple plant to place in my second lot so that weeds don't take over. I don't want anything too complicated because I'm new to this whole gardening thing. Afterwards I plan on trying to sell my friends on the idea of making gardens of their own!
